Quercus is an object that's construction is formed also from deconstruction. No components are permanently joined, instead they interact with one another, tying the product together. This allows for a clean and efficient end-of-life recycling process as well as making repairs easy.
Formed from waste, the glass shade is a reformed glass bottle, maintaining a subtle visual link to the materials previous life-cycle as well as utilising an existing functional form. This also reduces the energy required in full glass recycling, lowering the products embodied energy. The wood used is naturally fallen British oak, sourced from wood surgeons working to promote sustainable forestry. No trees are cut down for the purpose of the material. The wood is kept natural, using only steam to bend to form and nut based oils, it ensures the material is uncontaminated and will remain in the biosphere; natures recycling system.
The electronic components are sourced for their quality, recyclability and manufacture. Sourced entirely from Europe, other than the UK plug which is sourced from Malysaisa (due to the components quality).
£10 from every lamp sold goes to Cool Earth saving 40 trees from deforestation and locking in 43 tonnes of Co2.
No non-recyclable waste is produced.
Made in limited numbers.
Each product is unique due to material and process.
